Raheem Sterling hoppade in i Englands 1-0-seger mot Estland. Enligt Roy Hodgson kände sig Sterling sliten: “Raheem had done the warm-up and he came to me and said ‘Look I really am feeling a bit tired I am not in my best form at the moment’. So I said, ‘The best thing is Adam Lallana starts the game and you rest and I have got you to bring on from the bench’, simple as that. As you saw when he came on there is nothing wrong with him and he isn’t suffering from anything,” sa Hodgson enligt The Independent.

Hodgson fortsatte sitt resonemang genom att påpeka att Sterling har spelat många matcher det senaste året: “In mitigation of a young player, he has broken into a team like Liverpool, had a fantastic season, gone to the World Cup, done well and been regarded as one of the few who lived up to his reputation.

“Then you come back and you’re still only 19 years of age, there are a lot of other things that play a part in people’s make up. It isn’t quite as simple as the training you’re doing maybe taking some juice from your legs. There is an awful lot going on in your head as well.

“Perhaps it’s quite simply the season hasn’t started quite as well for Liverpool as they wanted. He’s a player who’s always in the focus and spotlight for England and Liverpool, maybe that’s had some effect. But I don’t know, it’s a theory.”

Enligt den spanska källan Sport har Victor Valdes representant Gines Carvajal förnekat de rykten som gör gällande att målvakten har tackat nej till ett förslag från Liverpool som gick ut på att han skulle spendera 4 dagar på Merseyside för att kunna försäkra klubben om sin skadefrihet. Carvajal sa: ”Liverpool have not offered us the chance to train with them for four days. And we have not rejected the offer, because it is false [the offer]. That proposal was never made to us by Brendan Rodgers nor by Liverpool at any moment.”

Liverpool är intresserade av Belenenses 20-åriga mittfältare Fabio Sturgeon, som man har scoutat vid flertalet tillfällen under säsongen. Benfica ger Liverpool konkurrens om mittfältarens signatur, men han skulle föredra att flytta till England. Han föddes i Portugal, men kan faktiskt representera Englands landslag, eftersom hans pappa är engelsman. Belenenses värderar honom till £2,4 miljoner (The Mirror).

Liverpool är nära att komma överens med MK Dons rörande Dele Alli. Klubbarna diskuterar övergångssumman, som kommer att innehålla eventuella prestationsbaserade tilägg, som kan se MK Dons få hela £9 miljoner i slutändan. Liverpool vill göra klart övergången i januari och därefter låna tillbaka Alli resten av säsongen (The Daily Express).
