På dagens presskonferens bekräftade Brendan Rodgers att Glen Johnson kommer att vara tillbaka i Liverpools trupp till söndagens PL-match mot Swansea. Johnson har tränat under veckan och känt sig bättre än på väldigt länge.

Rodgers tillade att Lucas Leivas rehabilitering går bra, men att han inte kommer att finnas med mot Swansea. Det kommer heller inte Mamadou Sakho att göra, men fransmannen är tillbaka på fotbollsplanen, även om det fortfarande är rehabiliteringsträning som gäller för honom.

Däremot ser det mörkare ut för en annan skadad spelare – Jose Enrique has been out in America. We’re looking to try to put an end to his injuries this season. We have sent him out to get some specialist advice on that. But he’s nowhere near playing yet, sa Rodgers om Enriques situation.

Den hyllade LFC-managern snackade även om Champions League och påpekade att det skulle innebära väldigt mycket för Liverpool att komma tillbaka till turneringen: – It’s vitally important for us to go to that next level, that’s where we need to be. I took over a team that was eighth, and that’s what we’ve been building towards over the last 18 month, sa Rodgers.

– If we can get to that elite competition, then of course it attracts a different type of player as well. It’s very important and hopefully it will be this year. We have got lots of people that we’re looking at. We’ll assess where we are at the end of the season and take it from there, fortsatte Rodgers.

Någonting som Rodgers inte hade någon större lust att kommentera är om Liverpool är fortsatt intresserade av Konoplyanka. Rodgers fick frågan vad han tyckte om Konoplyankas insats mot Spurs och svarade: – I didn’t see the game. We’ve got lots of people that we’re looking at and we’ll assess where we’re at at the end of the season and take it from there.
