Liverpool är inte längre intresserade av Ryan Bertrand. Detta på grund av att Chelsea-spelaren ville höja sin nuvarande veckolön på £35 000 till £60 000 för att flytta till Liverpool. Nu kommer Rodgers att titta på andra alternativ till vänsterkanten (GOAL.com).

Tidigare idag medgav Rodgers att uteblivet CL-spel försvårar rekryteringsprocessen – och att Mkhitaryan var klubbens ’top target’.

“If you are not in the Champions League, that naturally makes it tougher,” sa Rodgers enligt The Liverpool Echo.

“We all have the same objective. We all want to be there. If you are a manager or player, you want to be at that level. That is always the case when you are going for good players. But I’m sure good players still want to come to this club.

“There has been lots of players linked but the fact is we really only had one (top target) and unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to speak to that player before he moved from Shakhtar. We had spoken to Shakhtar, we had got permission to speak to him but unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to sit down in front of him. It was already in place with Dortmund so that was disappointing.

“I always feel that if I can get in front of the player, I can sell the club and what our project is here. Hopefully that is exciting for the players. So (missing out on Mkhitaryan) is the only disappointment. I believe there will be others.”

Enligt The Daily Mail har Arsenal blivit informerade om att Luis Suarez är villig att skriva på för klubben, trots uruguayanens tidigare kommentarer om att han vill lämna Premier League. Arsenal är beredda att buda £40 miljoner för Suarez – men Liverpool kräver ett bud på mer än £50 miljoner för att sälja.

The Daily Mail uppger att Liverpool hoppas övertyga Suarez om att vilja stanna i klubben genom att göra ett par ’major signings’ innan transferfönstrets slutskede, då man kommer att bli mer sårbara för bud på Suarez.

Brendan Rodgers hävdar fortfarande att Suarez kommer att stanna i LFC. På dagens presskonferens klargjorde Rodgers att klubben ämnar att förstärka rejält innan transferfönstret stänger: ”I am confident that we will get the one or two players who will really excite and complete the jigsaw,” sa Rodgers enligt The Daily Mail. ”We are looking for good players. We just need a couple more that can give us that quality.

”I am really happy with where the squad is at. If we can add just one or two more, we will have a small, tight-knit group that will really be able to push forward,” fortsatte Rodgers.

Ian Ayre har snackat lite om transferarbetet på ett event i Indonesien.

“We were very active very early in the window and were well prepared,” sa Ayre enligt The Liverpool Echo.

”We did some good work with four signings in a short period time and that work continues.

“Just because we are here in Asia it doesn’t mean we aren’t talking to clubs and players.

I was awake until 4am today talking to people. That work goes on in order to help us achieve our objectives.”
