I don’t think contractual or transfer talk will affect him at all.

”He’s a level-headed boy, he’s shown the same temperament in terms of coming in and playing at 18 and playing in the manner that he has done.”

”He’s not got an offer yet. Liverpool have expressed an interest in him.

”We haven’t said that we don’t want to let the player go. So he hasn’t got an offer yet. He’s playing away here.

”I take it that when he joined Rangers that getting a first-team game is what he wanted to do.

”He’s been getting a lot more games than I’d imagine he would this season, but he’s deserved them and he’s played exceptionally well for us.”

I en intervju med Daily Record över 31-åringen beröm över sin unga lagkamrat: ”He’s been brilliant, the composure he’s shown in some of the games he’s had to play in, Champions League, Old Firm, cup finals, he’s dealt with them all.

”And on a personal note, I’m delighted he’s come in and done so well in Madjid Bougherra’s absence because if he hadn’t I’d have been at centre half for half the season,” säger McCulloch om Wilson.

”He has a great future ahead of him – he’s the best of all the young boys because he comes on and plays like a man.”

”I know there’s been speculation and honestly he could play anywhere he wanted to play.”

”But it’s a risk and hopefully he’ll sign here. He’ll be a real star and a captain of this club in the future.

”He handles himself well in the dressing room, he doesn’t act like a young boy and you see that maturity on the park as well.

”If he stays and plays every week there isn’t a better club for him.

”He has time on his hands to learn his trade and if down the line he wants to move on then great.”

”Ultimately, it comes down to what the individual wants for himself,” sa McAllister till Sportsmail.

”If you play at Ibrox, you have adulation and a stadium where the atmosphere is amongst the best you will find anywhere.

”You are expected to win trophies and get to the last 16 of the Champions League, while you can be captain of one of the biggest clubs in the land.

”But if you have ambitions to play with the best and grace stadiums like Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford or Anfield, then you come down here.”

It has always been the case that people down here have a low opinion of the Scottish League. They feel everything is nowhere near as good as the Premiership.

”If you are Scottish, you have to decide if you are the sort to prove you are good enough to play in this environment.

”That was what brought me down in the ’80s from Motherwell. I wanted to follow in the footsteps of Dalglish, Souness and Hansen.

”Scottish boys don’t always do that these days. It has been really pleasing to see Barry Ferguson come back down and do so well at Birmingham, because he left Blackburn prematurely before.

”Kris Boyd also wouldn’t be a risk for anyone who wants to bring him down. He will always score goals. But it’s up to Boyd and Wilson to ask themselves what they want.

”Some people are home birds and just don’t fancy moving away. Or it might come down to money.”

”I haven’t seen a lot of the lad, so I would be talking out of turn to pass comment on his suitability for Anfield.”

”I saw him in the Old Firm game and he looked a prospect, but that’s it. Central defence is an area where Liverpool are a wee bit short at the moment.”

”I’d see Wilson as one for the future. He passed the test when he was thrown in to the Champions League. So that says something.”

”What he has in his favour is experience of life at a big club.

”The boys I played with who came from the Old Firm had a head start. They had seen it all before.”
