Enligt The Mirror kommer Liverpool att buda på Theo Walcott i januari. Arsene Wenger hävdar alltjämt att Arsenal har råd att behålla honom säsongen ut, trots att han blir kontraktslös nästa sommar, men det troliga är ändå att de kommer att sälja honom i januari istället för att tappa på free transfer.

Arsenal har dock inte gett upp hoppet om att skriva ett nytt kontrakt med Walcott.

”I haven’t picked him, it’s true, and it’s quite a good question,” sa Wenger enligt The Mirror. ”I still hope to sign him and the next two months will be vital because, after that, the longer this situation lasts the more difficult it is,” fortsatte fransmannen.

”Let’s hope we can find a solution in the next two months but the fact he doesn’t play regularly at the moment is right, but it’s not necessarily linked with his contract situation,” tillade Wenger.

När Wenger pressades om Arsenal vore villiga att sälja i januari svarade han: ”It will depend on the needs of the team and the club. We can afford to go to the end (of the contract) if needed. No player is happy when he doesn’t play. At the moment, Koscielny doesn’t play. He’s just extended his contract and still doesn’t play because the defence is doing well. That’s only temporary because by the end of the season they will all play.”

The Mirror uppger att Liverpool kommer att buda på Walcott i januari, men att de andra intressenterna Manchester City och Chelsea hellre vill vänta tills efter säsongen när de kan signa den supersnabba engelsmannen på free transfer.

Precis som media har uppmärksammat har Wenger varit väldigt ovillig med att ge Walcott speltid den här säsongen. Bakgrunden är som bekant att hans kontrakt går ut efter säsongen och att han nobbade Arsenals senaste kontraktserbjudande som låg på £75 000/veckan.
