Som en del av Champions League-uppladdningen kommer vi på Totaal Liverpool att ta tempen på våra motståndare och få lite ”inside information” från några av lagens mest hängivna experter.

Vi inleder CL-kollen med PFC Ludogorets Razgrad från Bulgarien som jag antar att ALLA därute har superkoll på? Skämt åsido så var det nog inte många som hade en susning om den här lilla klubben när Liverpool lottades emot dem tidigare i Augusti.

Klubben grundades hursomhelst den 18 juni 2001, för blott 13 år sen alltså. Det senaste året har laget lyckats besegra flera välkända lag, däribland PSV Eindhoven och Lazio i Europa League. Det är med andra ord en remarkabel resa denna lilla bulgariska klubb gjort på sina få år inom fotbollen, och de är garanterat ett lag som måste respekteras och tas på allvar, trots sin storlek.

Ludogorets har gjort en helt okej inledning på säsongen och ligger i skrivande stund på en fjärde plats i Bulgariens högstaliga bakom det kanske något mer kända huvudstadslaget CSKA Sofia.

Det ska även noteras att tränaren Georgi Dermendzhiev bara varit i klubben i några månader. Han fick faktiskt ta över mitt i andra kvalrundan i Champions League då Ludogorets spelade 0-0 hemma mot Partizan i CL-kvalet, och har följande facit (W4, D3. L1) som huvudtränare över klubben.

Q&A med Simeon Kichukov, journalist från Bulgariens ledande sportmagasin 7 Days Sport

1. What do you think of the season so far?

I think the season is good for Ludogorets. You can’t say anything different because of the qualification to the group stage of Champions League. This is big success for all Bulgarian football. Ludogorets is only the second team to play at this stage (8 years after Levski Sofia).

But if we look from a different perspective, the team is not playing so well in league (3W, 3D, 1L). I think Ludogorets will improve, but it’s important to play good both in Champions League and the league.

2. How does your strongest team look like (the team that without injuries will face Liverpool)?

Still don’t know. Stoycho Stoev preffered one line-up, but the new coach Georgi Dermendzhiev still havn’t had the chance to pick all of his players. If there’s no injuries I think the best XI is:

Caicara, Barthe, Moti, Minev

Dyakov, Zlatinski

M. Alexandrov, Marcelinho, Misidjan

Bezjak

Angulo and Hamza are good signings but they are not settled yet (which probably means they wont play).

3. What do you think of your clubs silly season? (Incoming players and players leaving)

Ludogorets have signed players on positions where they needed more potential. Ludogorets have signed a new good LB – Brayan Angulo from Granada. He has experience in La Liga. They have also signed Abel Anicet who already played with 3 teams in Bulgaria. He can play DM, AM, Striker. Ludogorets have also signed the brazilian Wanderson, who scored the goal against Steaua. Still havn’t played a big role but looks like good player. But Youness Hamza is the best signing, born goalscorer and a predator in the box.

I think the transfers overall were good. The players who have left the team weren’t so important.

Ludogorets did very well to keep their most important players. Bezjak had an offer from a team abroad for around 4 mil euros. Misidjan was also watched by several teams. But owner didn’t want to sell (and kept his word).

4. Which signing are you/the fans most excitited about?

I have already answered that question, but I say again. Hamza no doubt. He has a lot of potential, but is not settled yet. When he is used of playing like the style of Ludogorets he will be the number one striker.

5. Who will be your key player vs Liverpool?

Marcelinho. He is the brain (of the team). When he is playing good the team is different. If there is space he can do great things and has great partnership with Bezjak. They play very good together.

To name a few others I want to mention the wingers Misidjan and Alexandrov, they are also key players in the team.
