På sistone har det spekulerats i att Manchester Citys Stephen Ireland kan bli aktuell för Liverpool i sommar.

Journalisten David McDonnell är The Mirrors fotbollskorrespondent i Manchester. McDonnell verkar tro att Ireland kan komma att lämna klubben och säger dessutom att Liverpool är den troligaste klubbadressen för irländaren om han flyttar.

Såhär skriver nämligen McDonnell om Irelands nuvarande situation i Man City: ”Ireland has been forced to curb his natural attacking instincts this season in favour of a more defensive-minded approach, which simply doesn’t suit him. When he was given the freedom to go forward, in the same kind of role Frank Lampard plays for Chelsea, he’s devastating as his goal return proved. But he’s not comfortable having to compromise his natural game, and with Mancini i liking to play with three holding midfielders, Ireland has found himself out of favour. I know for a fact he’s becoming increasingly disillusioned at life at City, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him move on in the summer, with Liverpool his likely destination.”

Ireland är som bekant en skicklig spelare, som har blivit en publikfavorit i sin nuvarande klubb, men som även har en del kontroverser i bagaget.
