Klopp har klargjort att Karius är Liverpools förstamålvakt för tillfället.

Simon Mignolet har varit etta mellan Liverpools stolpar sedan ankomsten från Sunderland. Nu är det dock slut med detta.

“In this moment, we have a number one and that is Loris Karius,” bekräftade Klopp enligt The Guardian och fortsatte: “That’s the situation. I cannot leave them in doubt. There was a short moment when we gave him [Karius] time to see a little more of him. After the last international break, I spoke to both of them and made that decision. There’s nothing else to say. I’ve made that decision. Loris is number one at this moment and Simon is number two.”

Mignolet har som bekant fått utstå tuff kritik under sina år som Liverpools förstamålvakt. Dessvärre har inte Karius heller direkt briljerat i sin hittills korta karriär i klubben, då han visar samma osäkerhet som Mignolet i luftrummet. Trots detta har alltså Klopp gjort sitt val.

Klopp bekräftade dock att Mignolet kommer att få stå i morgondagens cupmatch mot Spurs: “The chance of him starting is 100% if nothing happens in training- It is a luxury problem for me. I made the decision and of course he was not happy about it but he is a really good professional. We have had a few talks and I don’t have the perfect answer for him. He’s still not happy but nobody can see this in training. He is working hard.”
