I dagarna har Bordeaux nickstarka anfallare Marouane Chamakh gått ut med att han vill lämna klubben.

Nästa anhalt i Chamakhs karriär verkar bli England, där han har flera beundrare. Eftersom han bara har ett år kvar på sitt kontrakt borde han vara tillgänglig till ett rimligt pris.

Philippe Auclair, som är journalist på France Football Magazine, sa följande till Setanta Sports News: ”He’s in the last year of his contract, so he can be bought for very little money considering how good this player is: 13 goals in France this season.

”He would cost between six and seven million pounds, which is nothing for an international striker of that value.

”A number of clubs have been following him. Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle (but I think that’s a little bit irrelevant now) and Arsenal.

”The fact is Arsenal would be favourites to land Marouane Chamakh, whom I think would be an absolute hit in England.

”He’s young but not that young. He’s played an awful lot of games in the French League.

”He’s probably the best header of the ball in the Championnat, at the moment. Great attitude, on and off the pitch. A great guy to have in the dressing room.”
